Local Heroes
Stockholm
Local Heroes is a series of small public projects built by KTH School of architecture, Master studio,” Full Scale Studio” co-founded and directed by Anders Berensson.
The projects are small improvements in public space built to provoke reaction in areas often forgotten in Stockholm using the method of prototyping. The students build easy to assemble and reassemble structures to test 1 to 1 what the effect of the structure might make on site. Some caused angry reactions for good reasons and were taken away, some caused reactions that later turned into political reactions, but most structures just caused joy for those using them.
All structures were made through adaptive reuse. The course started by students demolishing a house, transporting its timber to kth and refining it into to new building material. Only a small amount of building materials such as screws and paint were added to the new structures.
