Hammarbybackarna

Stockholm

Anders Berensson Architects has been commissioned by the Stockholm Centre Party to investigate extending the existing skiing slope of Hammarbybacken with new masses from big infrastructure projects in Stockholm.

There is a great opportunity to make the ski slopes of Stockholm higher and with more peaks when Stockholm once again builds new subway lines. The existing skiing slopes of Stockholm were created by previous big infrastructure projects in the city and the expansion of subway lines once again create an opportunity of large masses to extend the slopes.

Hammarbybacken is today a valued ski slope that could become both higher and larger if we extend the existing hill and build a new peak next to it.

The skiing hill is today the most central gateway to the nature reserve Nackareservatet for a large part of southern Stockholm and has the potential to become Stockholm’s natural entrance to a rich sports and outdoor life. We suggest that the skiing slope. It is made higher and bigger with two peaks. By expanding the hill, we can also create one new entrance from Hammarbyhöjden, which is easily accessible by subway. Several new slopes can be created and more space for other outdoor activities such as cross-country skiing, running and mountain biking can make the hill use all year around.
