Light Line

Anders Berensson Architects in collaboration with Swedish housing company Sommarnöjen has designed the new housing concept Light Line. Light Line is a new interpretation of the companies most popular housing models. The design challenge has been to design a house with a slightly lower price but still make it into a unique product.

To make the model more affordable we designed fixed glass sheets going straight into the wall, ceiling and floor without any frames instead of large sliding windows that cost significantly more to manufacture. This also gives the house a feeling of not having windows but just openings towards its surroundings. We also designed open storage affordable kitchen and bathroom details without sacrificing comfort and function.

Outside, we developed an Outdoor package. Here, parts of the facades get the same expression and detailing as the interior walls. Storage of bicycles or firewood becomes fine and well-thought-through details. On a sunny day, the kitchen extends onto the veranda and the fish can be cleaned on an outdoor bench with access to water. A bench with cushions becomes a sofa in an outdoor living room. The house is turned inside out to be twice as big on a sunny day.
