Bulls

Nacka

Anders Berensson Architects together with Wallensteen & Co has designed the reconstruction of an office space for media company Bulls in Nacka outside Stockholm. The aim of the project has been to enhance the building’s existing qualities as well as highlighting the brand and its production of media.

The building has maritime features on the outside but a strict modernistic floor plan on the inside in many ways resembling the plan of a skyscraper with repetitive big windows, a ceiling system and installations following a strict grid and a solid dark core. In this project we wanted to work with the floorplan by following its strict divisions when adding new rooms, walls, furniture, and carpets.

For the interior, we have tried to create a mix of classic modernism mixed with the atmosphere from a lively editorial team. Carpentries as well as the floor and some walls are made in dark stain wood just like a finer newsroom in the old days when modernism peaked. Many of Bull’s products are readily available entertainment such as comics, crosswords, and apps. These products are often colorful and designed to be seen. Giving these a sober background and integrating these products into the interior has been important part of the design.
